Think about the haptic experience of reading a book. When we touch and flip through the pages, we’re using hand-eye coordination to feel the weight of what we’re seeing. Print books also allow students to mark the progress they’ve made and go back to confirm that information. Coordinating visual focus with haptic feeling has a unique cognitive effect. It offers the children a more authentic, healthy learning experience. Donating these books to my class library will guarantee that this year's kids, and kids for future years to come, will have a rich variety of interesting, relevant, and exciting books.
