Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book will be taught as a whole class unit. This book will introduce students to fiction and a variety of literary devices! Throughout the novel, we will practice close reading skills as a class. Students will have the opportunity to express their creativity and illustrate scenes from the text using the graphic novel as an example. At the end of the novel, students will write a book review and practice the literary devices they learned in their own writing. The Graveyard Book will also provide context for other Neil Gaiman texts, like Coraline!
