Throughout my teaching career as a teacher of history, I have found too many times that my students typically find their history classes "boring". I want to bring history to life for my students by allowing them to build and create objects, artwork, architectural models, and items used by humans throughout history, and then research and write about the "stories" behind these objects. My students will create models of items such as tools, pottery, early writing forms like hieroglyphics and cuneiform tablets, various forms of artwork, and other objects used by humans in the past. I hope to spawn a sense of curiosity and profound interest in history through a hands-on, innovative approach. I believe that by allowing students to create items from the past and then researching and writing about the significance of these items, the importance of learning about history will become more tangible to them.
