My students are increasing their interest in reading, mostly fiction stories like novels. All these appealing titles will help them to maintain that interest and they surely will enjoy reading them. I have observed the books they tend to read more and also I based this selection on the preference they talked about at the beginning of the school year. Our classroom library is a corner they enjoy a lot. We sit on the carpet read together or during independent reading time. We are enhancing daily reading for at least 20 minutes and they need more variety in books. Besides reinforcing the passion for reading, students will have more options to select a book according to their reading level which will help them very much to move forward in their reading level and self-esteem. Daily reading will improve their fluency and comprehension which. My students value books and take a lot of care of them, they have learnt that books are like friends and we need to show them the same respect. I just found out about DonorsChoose and this is my first project, there are so many books that my students need and are eager to read! Surely this project will help them to expand their vision and knowledge by reading diverse topics, without forgetting the passion they will continue having about reading.
