These makeup kits will serve a variety of purposes. They will be used first and foremost in our Technical Theater class. As it currently stands, I can talk to the students about makeup, we can look at examples of good and bad makeup, we can watch videos, but they don't have the materials to actually practice applying makeup themselves which is the most useful part of the experience. Students learn by doing and this project will help our students to move from head knowledge to actual skills that they can use in supporting our program. In addition, we will need makeup for theatrical performances in the future. As I said, we are a new program that is just starting to acquire materials. As we perform later in the year, we will need some basic supplies to make that happen. These makeup kits will help our performance-focused classes to put on the best shows possible!
