For the past month, students have been exploring the exciting world of gardening from our aquaponic garden. Though it is small and only grows wheatgrass, it has really peaked curiosity and enthusiasm about plants and gardening. Our school doesn't have an area where we could do in-ground gardening effectively, so a raised-bed garden would be ideal! This project-based learning would increased students awareness of ecology and environment, science, and math. Gardening can also provide tactile and sensory experiences that can help with self-regulation and comfort for some students. Life-long lessons of responsibility, commitment and patience would also be an amazing take-away from this project.
