One of my goals in my first grade classroom is to make learning memorable and fun for all of my students. To do this I need a variety of materials outside of paper and pencil. I found that my students also learn best when they use different modes and materials and when they can see themselves being presented in the materials. I imagine those smiling faces using the boards to perfect their undeveloped handwriting skills. I can see their faces lighting up as they make connections to story characters that look like them. They would be so excited to use the pop it’s during small group or spelling practice.
