The various read-alouds will allow instruction to be connected across various curriculums. As students develop literacy skills, they begin to decipher what words are used to accurately describe objects. As a result, mathematics is an ideal context for the use of these literacy/vocabulary skills. Manipulatives allow students to construct their understanding of various math objectives. Through the use of manipulatives, students are able to build confidence by having physical evidence of what they have learned. Therefore, through the use of manipulatives, students are able to turn abstract ideas into concrete ideas and allow for a deeper understanding of content.
