I am a third grade dual language classroom teacher who teaches Reading, Writing, and Math in a Title I school. My classroom consists of ESL students who need an increase in their vocabulary development. With the dictionaries provided, my students will learn how to become independent with researching their vocabulary terms, learning how to define words, and ultimately enhance their writing skills. As an dual language teacher, some of my students are in need of headphones to aid them in listening to learning platforms such as i-Ready or i-Station. I have several students who receive accommodations on assessments such as text to speech and audio assistance which allows students to be read aloud to and can identify words that students are unaware of. Some of these students do not have the finances to purchasing headphones to use at school or at home. As a Math teacher, my students are using whiteboards, expo markers and erasers in whole group and small group lessons. After overusing my erasers this past few years, they start to wear out. I would love to continue using white boards as a way of learning new mathematics skills in my classroom. My students love practicing their mathematics skills through rotations which consists of small group learning, and math games. In small group learning, my students demonstrate their new skills and use the erasable sleeves to show their work. These sleeves can also be useful for partner printed out games during rotation time. I have seen growth in my students when they are able to work in a community and cooperate when playing math games. My students are successful when they are able to apply their knowledge in a math game or in real world activities. By donating to our project, you will help increase their academic achievement.
