I am trying to help bridge gaps created by scholars learning through the pandemic. Second grade is pivotable to furthering educational success. My class is 75% ESL ,scholars struggle right now with basic reading, writing and math. I am trying to create tangible learning experiences to strengthen knowledge that actually sticks and grows understanding. These resources will be for independent and group work. Scholars will have the ability to work on handwriting and vocabulary at once with the workbooks to reinforce weekly sight word work. This can improve the chances of scholars learning and remembering the 20 new sight words per month. The Osmo system will be a fun engaging tool for math and stem as well as literacy while scholars rotate in and out of small groups. Osmo’s games are geared toward embodied learning, meaning the games teach abstract concepts by connecting scholars to objects and actions in the physical world. Osmo games promote embodied learning through physical-digital interactions.
These materials will provide more independent and peer to peer opportunities for learning.
I hope to create tangible learning moments for scholars ,that help them realize they are in control of their education and there is no limit to how, what, where or when you learn and it can always be fun if we make it that way!
