Flexible seating benefits students in many ways.Having a choice in seating empowers students. Flexible seating allows students to move while they are learning, and this increases brain activity. Flexible seating encourages collaboration with others. In my classroom, students might be analyzing different primary sources. The three chairs I am requesting could serve as a station with flexible seating where students are examining a primary source, typing observations and questions, and discussing what they see and think. Having group space on the floor will also allow me a space to work on small group non-fiction reading and writing instruction.
