These instruments will allow students to develop their skills as musicians as they read, perform and create rhythms both individually and as a class. During our African Percussion unit, students will be introduced to different cultures and learn about the history of different instruments and music traditions from across the world. Students will be have the opportunity to learn and practice playing techniques for different world percussion instruments, create their own composition and perform together as an ensemble. Students will experience creating music with African percussion instruments such as the djembe, shakere, gankogui and caxixi.

About my class
