In the past, these picture dictionaries have been some of the best resources for my students. However, I haven't gotten many back from remote learning last year. By providing my students with picture dictionaries, they will be able to make connections between spoken language and written language. They will be active thinkers and learners when they need to speak about a topic or remember the right word to put into their writing. Multilingual learners have assets that just need to be uncovered in another language; pictures provide a window to thinking and conversation. Sometimes all it takes is a picture to first think of the word in their native language to unlock a plethora of new words in their second language.
