We want to increase engagement during recess - we will develop a lunchtime skateboarding club to teach skateboarding in a safe and fun environment. Each day at recess, 10 5th graders and 10 4th graders (co-ed group) will learn to skateboard on our school blacktop. Our recess yard here in the Bronx has limited equipment. We don't have a field or track. We need to make the most out of the space we have. Skateboarding is a perfect activity during this time. This will help with engagement and overall happiness during recess.
