As a first year teacher, I am in the process of creating a classroom that works for both myself and my students. I want my students to feel safe and comfortable at all times. A positive classroom environment helps improve attention, reduce anxiety, and impacts social and emotional learning. My classroom is in need of a rug for whole group learning. Morning meetings and whole group lessons both take place on the rug, where we all can be together and engaged. I also like to allow the carpet as a seating option for independent work, my small groups, and silent reading.
