My students are brand new to school and this year brand new to the world at large due to being in quarantine for the half of their lives they remember. This has caused verbal and therefore literacy deficits in many students. Reading to them is an important part of how we expose them to new vocabulary, teach them conflict resolution, and give them experiences outside of home and school-the only 2 places many of them have been. These books will be incorporated into our lesson plans to help develop social emotional skills as well. Finally, we will foster a love of reading using animated story telling and discussions about our favorite characters and how they relate to our lives. Thank you for helping us on this adventure!
