I am trying to get a wrestling mat and uniforms so that we can have a high school wrestling team. The school district is concerned about finances, So I am trying to defray costs with donations from the community at large. Wrestling is a sport that enables students of all sizes to participate and have the potential to be a CHAMPION! We have many students with low esteem and self image issues who can benefit. Student athletes wrestle other students in their own weight class. So, whether a student weighs 100 pounds or 300 pounds, they can be a winner and a champion. Wrestling is a sanctioned sport in Arkansas for both boys and girls. I was surprised and excited when I did a survey and found out that more girls wanted to wrestle than boys! I know from personal experience what a difference it can make in the lives of students. Scholarships are available to students who are too short for basketball or too small for football. I am passionate to provide the benefits of a wrestling team to the students of Watson Chapel and in the future, all the schools in the Pine Bluff area.
