Study after study have showed that students who write notes by hand, in a notebook, improve students retention and cause them to be less distracted. I have students learn this necessary skill not only to benefit them but also reduce the amount of screen time they have. In my school district, it is asking a lot to have students buy notebooks. I teach semester classes and we have ran out of notebooks and I need a new set for this year. Increase Student Learning and Engagement In my classroom I also do not have a whiteboard at the front of the room. We have a smart board that I cannot change but no space for students to write or for me to put the agenda or objectives. I think it is really important for students to see that information at the front of the room and I cannot do that with this current set up.
