My DonorsChoose project is centered around fostering an atmosphere of creative exploration within my classroom. I want my students to not always think of art in terms of our art projects, but also understand that art starts with our imagination and creative play! So often I see young artists get discouraged in their artistic journey because they strive for perfection in their artwork. I want my students to see that art is never about perfection, but about their creativity, their persistence, and how it makes them feel. It is so easy to forget about the joy and creativity that we can find when we go back to the basics of imagination! I want to use these supplies to help my students grow their imagination and just find joy in the process of creating. For my younger students, many of these supplies will help build their fine motor skills as they have to use different shaped materials and connect them in specific ways to build structures and make designs. I foresee both my older and younger students working with one another at stations to share supplies, explore materials, and problem solve together. I cannot wait to see their smiling faces as they get to explore these art centers! The supplies I am fundraising for include magnetic building tiles, a spirograph kit and gel pens, geostix, drawing books, stamps and ink pads, and geometric art matching games!
