With advancements in technology, we are relying on computer use more and more in school. Typing has become a common way for students to produce writing. Although typing and computer use are very beneficial, it is still important to have a strong foundation in handwriting. The foundation for good handwriting starts with good fine motor skills. We need students to have those foundational fine motor skills so that they have the control, endurance, and ability to write. These fine motor skills are also very important for students to navigate their everyday environment including opening food and drink packaging, managing clothing, tying their shoes, and more. These materials will help students do just that. My students vary greatly in their cognitive and physical abilities. These tools will help me individualized how to best help them develop their fine motor and handwriting skills.
