Students, especially in early childhood or primary grades, learn best through multiple methods of practice. Including kinesthetic, visual, audio, and tactile elements within each lesson helps me to meet each learner's individual needs. This year, with a disruption in childcare and preschool options due to Covid, students have been struggling with letter recognition and letter formation more than a typical year. Students can use the smaller letter manipulatives in a variety of activities to practice letter sounds, matching, and building words. The sandpaper-like material of the letter boards will help students to practice forming letters without worrying about a proper pencil grip. These hands-on materials will help students to make a tactile connection along with the visual and verbal practice.
