My students use iPads in the classroom. Headphone help when they are given reading assignments to complete independently, so they can listen to audio without interrupting others. Headphones will allow my students to listen to the audio of books and stories while reading. The headphones will remain in my classroom, so that the set can be used throughout the day ( I have three classes). Headphones will improve engagement when reading, and aid in comprehension of novels and stories that we read throughout the school year. For example, we will be reading The Giver by Lois Lowry when we return from Winter Break. Listening to the audio as we read the book will help the students engage by hearing it read aloud to them while looking at/reading the text. Listening to audio will also help the lower level readers understand the text, and become better readers.
