Our campus was created in 2004 intended for elementary school students. However, our campus ranges from grades 6 to 12 with over 600 students. Our girls are nationally ranked in Mathematics, Science, English, and Social sciences. Unfortunately, even with our academic success, we do not have adequate seating to ensure that all students can work comfortably with their peers. We're really grateful to be back in the classroom after the pandemic however, the desks and seats are a barrier to our learning. It's difficult to move around our small classroom that was originally made for elementary school students; our desks are either too small or broken. My high school students need a learning environment they feel comfortable in and continue to strive in their academics. I personally have a table where students don't even fit. It's heartbreaking and more importantly, makes it difficult for students to demonstrate their creative process. These new desks will allow for collaborative group work and comfortability in my small classroom.
