In order to be successful in AP Literature, my students need to have the ability to annotate their texts. This means that they need to be able to write in their books so that they can keep track of themes and literary devices. AP Literature requires students to provide quotations from their books every time they write an essay. This becomes impractical if they are not able to underline and make notes in the text itself. It is important that each student has access to their own copy of the books that we read in our AP Literature class so they can write in their books. Having their own books enriches their learning and simplifies the difficult essay writing process.
