My students don't have access to a ton of diverse books or books they find engaging because we are trying to rebuild our library from the flood, and I only have so many books as a first year teacher. These books will help my students learn more about world issues and see outside of the box of their all-white school. I want them to be more aware of what life is like for people who don't look like them outside of their rural town. I feel that these books will help them learn more about empathy and problems other races face.
