If provided these resources, my students will have tools to support them in the self regulation of their emotions. We will use these materials in our sensory room which is a space that we allow students to use when they need an outlet from the general education classroom setting. Our students come from a multitude of backgrounds and deserve the best resources to meet their emotional needs while trying to learn during a pandemic. Creating learning environments that promote and support student belonging and social-emotional learning was a priority before the COVID-19 pandemic, and in light of the stress and disruption of academics over an extended period of time, these issues are all the more pressing today. If provided the book bins, my students will have their own personal bin to self select books of interest and ultimately spark a love of literature. This will allow a more organized space in our room, ultimately allowing students to navigate the excelled selection of books to be explored.
