This collection of art materials will help to complete our classroom art center. Painting and drawing are important means of exploration and expression for young children. Working with their eyes and hands, they learn to observe deeply and think symbolically. Drawing is children's first form of written communication, and it continues to be critical throughout early childhood development, even as children make the transition to written language. Drawing and painting not only provide valuable fine motor strengthening, but they also empower children to express themselves and to build a connection between words and illustration, and to interpret a world filled with visual symbols.
