These materials will greatly help my students to develop number sense, subitize, and fluently make and manipulate tens in addition facts, subtraction facts, as well as related facts. The rekenreks will allow my students to visualize how to manipulate numbers and quantify numerical expressions. These materials will give them the concrete experiences they need in computation so they can develop and transfer their learning towards abstract mathematical skills and thinking. They will enjoy the hands on learning experience of using the rekenreks and they will learn to understand numerical relationships.
