This year I am teaching African American history and as a school district, we have not adopted a book. I have used quotes and pieces of information from the youth Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You book by Ibram Kendi and Jason Reynolds and the students love the information coupled with other sources. But the use of the quotes and the information becomes costly because I want the students to read the information for themselves and make connections to the material. Also, it is costly for time because we are reading the quotes and information in class on PowerPoints. I would love for them to have a copy of the book to take home and read so that they can make connections and meanings based on the information in the text.
