Many of my students are below grade level readers and most of the books at their levels do not have meaningful themes or messages. They need those types of books at their levels so they can read independently and complete grade work that focuses on expanding their thinking skills. The books I have requested have meaningful themes and allow the kids to make connections that are necessary to enjoy and grow from literature. The easel is important for me to use in our daily lessons. I have a whiteboard on the wall that I use for lesson work, but an additional whiteboard will allow me to display a daily message as well as post reminders. I can move it around the room as needed to easily support my EL learners.
