I would love your support to help my students develop their proficiency in both Spanish and English and bridge the gap between their school and home lives. With these books, we could provide an opportunity for my students who are primarily literate in Spanish to begin making connections to literacy in English. For our students that are primarily literate in English, these books could serve as a resource for them to develop literacy in Spanish and a pride for their cultures and languages. In addition, if we had these books I could implement a system with the students where they bring books home to read individually at home. If we have bilingual books, parents could join in on the reading which gives them an opportunity to be more involved in their child's education. Allowing student choice in both topic and language is a powerful tool in developing lifelong readers.
