All students deserve access to engaging materials to improve their reading and math skills and make learning fun! Currently, most of the activities I can provide for students are solely paper and pencil based which can be monotonous. With a new printer and ink, I can provide students with more engaging materials to spark their interest in learning. As a special education resource teacher, it is imperative that I provide an engaging and hands-on learning environment for my students. The products that I have selected will allow students to master key literacy and math skills both independently and with a teacher. During small group intervention, students can use the guided reading sets, comprehension task cards, flashcards, and manipulatives to gain mastery in their IEP goals. When my students have the opportunity to use manipulatives the students become more engaged and eager to learn. Not only will the manipulatives assist with academics, but they will also provide students with the opportunity to work on gross and fine motor skills. The whiteboards, dry erase markers, pens, and pencils will ensure students have the materials needed to be successful. Students can not learn if they are hungry, by providing my students with snacks, I can ensure that they are full and ready to learn. I have already seen an impact in student learning when they have engaging manipulatives and are well fed and with your support, my students can continue to succeed.
