My students love reading! They especially like reading books that reflect who they are and their communities. Being able to read about other young people like them and their struggles and accomplishments encourages the students to want to do well. Seeing themselves represented in books that uplift them are a great way to also relate to students and start real, genuine conversations. Also the books and posters that I have requested will enhance their reading levels because they are interested in what is being read. It will also encourage independent reading. Thank you for this opportunity.
