Our goal is to purchase a Book Vending Machine for our Primary School. This vending machine would not require any purchase with actual money, but would be utilized as an incentive for students (for behavior and academic progression) using "coins". Students will earn the coins and then be able to purchase a book of their choice to take home with them. They may earn them for being a great friend to someone or for simply trying their best on their spelling test. A book vending machine will help encourage lifelong readers and celebrate positive behaviors of students. Reading is a process that must be supported both at school and at home. Research shows that the more exposure that a child has to books, the more advanced they are in their vocabulary and reading skills. To provide our students with a greater variety of books to take home would be giving them more opportunities for growth, as a student and as productive members of society.
