For many of my students, the negative behaviors they exhibit are the result of frustration with learning and embarrassment over their struggles with reading. This project is geared towards helping make reading more accessible. I have chosen high-interest graphic novels and class sets of engaging but more "Lexile-accessible" books. Fire tablets (which are easy to lock down so students don't wander) will help students access reading software and games that they can't use on their computers. Dry erase markers and dry-erase cubes will help with phonics, sight-word, and word family practice. The items I have chosen for this project will aid in giving my students more independence, interaction, and control over their learning. Success in learning will lead to improved belief in self and improved success outside of the classroom. Please help me take the struggle out of reading.
