Our tiny Title 1 school currently has one set of calculators. They normally live in the math room and we share as needed. While my first hour students learned about compound interest this week, those preparing for the ACT, math students and science students willingly shared. But the possibility of having enough for all of them across the building means almost infinite opportunity. Our students are so eager to learn. Watching them this morning while they worked their way through the financial implications of interest and investments - helping each other along the way and talking through the more difficult exponents reminded me why I teach. I watch minds grow.
