I do not currently have access to diverse texts to offer my students an opportunity to read short works of fiction that reflect their every day lives and possible positive futures. I believe literature provides students with experiences of life without the scars of failure. For this to be an effective tool, the stories must be both plausible and enjoyable. After completing a unit on the basics of text analysis and literary elements, students will be tasked with constructing a text analysis essay per week. Students will also write a character perspective letter and write an alternate ending to a story they read.
