Due to years of education budget cuts in our state, many programs have seen massive reductions, especially the arts. When our art teacher left the school, we did not replace her. As a result, students have not had many opportunities to engage their artistic abilities. I want to provide situations where my students can use their imaginations to express their creativity. Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge, knowledge is limited, imagination encircles the world." This iPad will be used in a small group station where partners will work together to create art, animations, and much more. Focusing on the NVACS for Integrated Technology K-12, students will work with the teacher to create an original work using a variety of digital tools as a means of personal or group expression (1.CC.B.1, 2.CC.C.1, 4.CC.B.1, 5.CC.B.1). Since the iPad has a touch screen and a pencil accessory, it is perfect for students to use to create and save their art creations. Students can quickly edit their work to remove any mistakes. These digital creations will also be easy to share with other students, classes, parents, and the community (if desired). Also, there are amazing animations apps that the students will utilize to create their own simple action sequences. Hopefully, as my knowledge and comfort level increases, we can expand the artistic uses of the iPad to include video editing, music creation, and so much more!
