Students in our district do not get the proper foundations from learning an instrument at an early age. Budgets are tight and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, so unfortunately we lack musical instruments for them to learn on. Recorders are a great first instrument students can use to prepare them for more advanced musicality in their future schools or to enrich their lives. My students are eager to learn an instrument but most lack the funds to purchase the instrument, accessories, music, etc. It is a shame that they struggle to find the opportunity and I cannot solely cover the cost with so many students under my wing. This project will at least give us instruments to get started on and should take us through the year.
