As an ELA teacher, my mission is to provide learning opportunities for every student that walks through my door. Given the systemic barriers put in place to limit the opportunities for low-income communities, many students are left behind. There are a lot of factors leading to this disparity but a lack of resources and funding is among the most impactful. The resources our classroom community has requested will provide opportunities for students to gain foundational reading skills that will help them close the literacy gap and open their eyes to magical world of literature
