As a first year, first grade teacher, I am realizing that I need to desperately build a shelf filled with learning tools that keep early finishers engaged and provide a reward for those who don't. When finished with an involved activity, the kids can have a choice of building vehicles, bridges, rockets and snap bots. Children who choose to be creative during this time can choose to design a bridge, rocket or sit with a quiet sensory viewer. I plan to make these amazing STEM playthings available throughout the day.
