My students need a safe space to process their feelings; a break in a calm and welcoming room that's complete with low lighting, comfortable seating, relaxing music, and access to healthy coping strategies. A cozy and peaceful space can allow them the time that's needed to regulate their emotions and head back to class with a clear mind that's available to learn. This is why I've become inspired to create "The Falcon's Nest." Our school mascot is a falcon so it's the perfect name. The "nest" will be THE safe space for students to take a break. A staff member may send them to the room to use a fidget toy, create some art, rest in a cozy chair, and select from multiple piles of handouts that will provide them with deep breathing methods, anger management techniques, and other coping strategies. Many of my students' trauma, home environments, and personal struggles impact them significantly. This is why I need donors' support to make "The Falcon's Nest" a reality. Thank you for your time and love!
