We've recently had certain assignments or novels that have included the students needing to read or write in cursive. A select few who have been taught at home were able to be successful but about 90% of the children were completely lost. It struck me that script, or cursive, was part of curriculum when we were younger but somewhere along the way it was deemed "unnecessary." It was marked as this yet we would expect these children to be able to sign their names on legal documents as they get older without ever once being exposed. These workbooks would act as supplementary work and the students would have designated time each day to practice. They truly want to learn this skill!
