We are in desperate need of a few classroom supplies to help students better understand key concepts. These supplies will all be used for our in-person kiddos. We have a very diverse population and want to make sure that everyone has access to the materials they need to thrive and learn in our attempt to return to normal in a Covid environment.
Earth Science is very abstract and requires lots of modeling and hands-on materials to help students grasp the concepts. Students need a variety of materials to help them learn new concepts and to link new problems to prior knowledge. To meet the demands of today's issues, students need more than textbook learning.
The amplifier is because I have a large science classroom and will be doing labs. My voice can't project clearly through a mask without assistance through six classes a day without technology assistance.
The extra rock collections are because we can only have a few students per sample box to learn about rocks and the rock cycle. The students need to have enough supplies to make it a comfortable work environment.
The index cards have a two-fold purpose. I will have students write their names on them and then every class I practice learning their names by handing them back out. Later in the year, we use these for mapping to measure distances and to create 3D profiles.
The glass barometer will replace my broken one! You can't teach about storms like hurricanes, tornadoes, and thunderstorms without understanding what happens to air pressure.
