Every week my students love their Station Time when they come to the library. They work in small groups building, tinkering, and learning through hands-on activities. I want to add an Origami Station. Since our school is 95% free/reduced lunch most of our students have never tried origami. I have noticed that my students' fine motor skills are very poor, but origami provides a fun way to practice. Additionally, many of my students need to practice perseverance. My goal is that simple paper folding will help build valuable skills for the future. I know that origami will pose a challenge for some of them. They will have to practice multiple times to complete some of these projects which will help grow their perseverance. I selected origami kits with varying degrees of difficulty so they can experience success and continue working towards a challenge.
