About my class

These materials will make a difference in the lives of the student-athletes by helping to prepare them for their future. The requested items are resources for students in my school to use to prepare for SAT and ACT tests, plan for and apply to colleges and for scholarships, learn social skills and etiquette, attain leadership skills, begin to manage finances, and market themselves effectively to reach their goals. I will use these resources to assist students in these endeavors both in my classroom as well as in after school tutoring sessions. One key piece of equipment to help these student athletes attract the attention of college scouts is a camera with wifi/bluetooth capabilities that will capture their athletic performance so that it can be used in recruiting pamphlets and on social media. I have spent the last 5 years photographing our football team from the sidelines with an older camera, and it takes a great deal of time to transfer the images to a device and then upload them to other platforms. This Nikon is equipped with a much faster shutter speed and is bundled with accessories that will produce professional grade photographs for the athletes to be used to help them attract scholarships. The journalism class will utilize all the equipment to produce their own new shows as well as take part in coverage of our school athletics and performances. I plan to teach the journalism class to use the iPad Pro, lighting kit and other SD cards to create better photographs. The overall goal of this project is to create a program for student athletes to grow as leaders and give them the skills needed to maximize their potential.
