My students spend the majority of their day focusing on catching up to their grade-level peers in areas such as reading and writing. While this work is so critical to their success throughout their education and life, this can sometimes cause science to take a backseat in their education. My students thoroughly enjoy exploring the world around them and deserve chances to further explore what they learn from their CORE science curriculum. With the addition of these supplemental science kits, my students will get the chance to delve deeper into specific science content areas, such as human digestion and respiration (via the Body Basics Complete Kit) and life cycles of both plants and animals (via the Living Things Cluster kit). My students need multiple opportunities to retain the material being taught to them, and by presenting the material to them in a variety of ways or through supplemental lessons and hands-on learning activities, I am more able to meet the learning needs and unique needs of all the students within my classroom.
