It is so important, now more than ever, to give students the opportunity to make music together. Boomwhackers teach SO many musical skills like: reading music, following a conductor, dynamics, articulation, and so much more. My primary subject is chorus but sometime we need to take a break from singing concert music just to jam out together. Boomwhackers make jamming out fun and educational! Chorus is the class for students to show off their creative sides free from snark and judgement. These materials will help the Chorus room be a safe space for just that. Egg shakers are a HUGE part of the vocal repertoire I plan to do with my classes. They are small enough for transport and loud enough to keep a steady beat during Kye Kye Kule by Greg Gilpin! Sometimes you come across a student that has a tough time standing still and needs a special job to help them stay focused. Making them the "Egg Shaker Queen/King" is something I plan to use as a behavioral management strategy for some wiggly middle schoolers.
