As an aftercare teacher it can be difficult to fit learning into my 2 hour time frame. I believe that the items I have chosen will help encourage learning in the classroom even after a long day of school. Literacy is extremely important and my students love to make their own books. This is why I have added blank books and bookmarks to my list of requests. I want to encourage my students to read and explore the world of books by first taking a look through their eyes at what kinds of books they enjoy.
Second I have included some giant legos that my students will absolutely adore. I have a lot of kids who I can see being future engineers with how much they love to build. A similar type of building kit was purchased in a past year and the kids have made just about as much as they can with them. I think these legos with create more exciting opportunities for their imaginations.
Lastly, I have included a couple games for the kids to play together. My students have trouble sharing toys that are involved with building because their aren't endless pieces. Games like these will help the kids to open their horizons to playing together and give me an opportunity to play with them as well. Many of our games are missing pieces and can no longer be played with properly.
Thank you for your time in considering my proposal!
