Students in my class participate in thematic book clubs each trimester. They choose books that interest them and complete a series of projects to present to their small book groups. Where I have requested a high number of multiples of the same title, I am hoping to have small groups read the same book and discuss it together. The point of the book clubs is to help students get comfortable talking about books and the literary concepts we teach in school. Students look for theme, character development, conflict, and author's craft. I have also requested a book rack to highlight certain collections of books on a rotating basis.
